All Luxury Sephora Haul

September 11, 2018

Lately, foundation and I have not been on good terms. Either my skin is misbehaving or new formulas are just shit. So in a final attempt of reconciliation, I went into Sephora looking for a foundation that would restore my faith in makeup. Welp...as you would have it, I left with a whole lot more than just the holy grail of foundation. But, the way I see it is, I've been working very hard the past few months, so I think I deserve to splurge on a few luxury items AND my self-justification says every item I purchased, have had nothing but rave reviews, so my life is about to change for the better. So if you want to see what I bought and all the dirty deets, then just scroll your little booty on down below.

The Short version

It's sheer, it's beautiful, it smells like old ladies, buy it.

Claimed benefits

Dior’s Diorskin Nude Air Serum Foundation is a weightless, ultra-fluid foundation serum that creates a nude makeup look. Formulated with SPF 25, it offers sun protection and the fresh-faced beauty of a natural-looking glow. Infused with Oxygen Activ™ technology, an innovative blend of a hyper-oxygenated oil, cranberry oil, vitamin, and minerals, this serum’s high-precision dropper deposits an undetectable film of makeup onto the skin, while its soft-focus agents and glazed pigments instantly produce an even-looking complexion that achieves the right amount of coverage for a radiant, sheer finish.

First Impression

It's a very thin, watery consistency and smells like old lady perfume. It provides a sheer coverage and natural radiance, so if you like full glam, full coverage, this may not be the foundation for you. But if you want a natural, almost no-makeup-makeup look this could be perfect for you. Most foundations accentuate the bigger pores on my cheeks, but this foundation doesn't appear to at first glance, and it gives me a natural glow, which is perfect for the summertime. I applied it with a foundation with a foundation brush and it was very easy to blend. It's so light weight it almost feels like I'm not wearing anything which is exactly what you want when battling summer humidity. Most foundations separate on my nose either due to a lack of exfoliation or I'm not matching the correct primer and foundation formulas, but this foundation has yet to crack.

All Day Wear

I👏🏻LOVE👏🏻THIS👏🏻FOUNDATION👏🏻 Lately I've been struggling to find the right foundation color and formula for my skin. I'm guessing due to the increase in humidity here in Tampa, and the amount of traveling I've been doing recently, my skin is just confused and doing all sorts of acrobatics.  I've struggled to even find a neutral tone foundation that matches my neck because it'll either make my face look way too light or way too dark or it's just a hint too yellow or a hint too pink. So I figured this will be my final attempt and the be all, end all at finding a foundation for the near future; and if Dior can't do it, can anyone, really? After a full day of stress and sweat, this foundation did not move. I got home expecting my face to be an oily mess, as it usually tends to, and I had nothing more than a beautiful natural glow and my foundation was still fully intact. I would recommend this to anyone who wants flawless looking skin, even though it's a little on the pricey side, it's definitely worth the money.

The Short version

It's a beautifully colored , glorified lip balm that tastes like sugar, buy it.

Claimed benefits

Three ancient holistic ingredients—100 percent argan oil, manuka honey, and moringa butter—are churned together for a lusciously creamy and conditioning lip enhancer. Argan oil replenishes from the inside out with fortifying antioxidants, vitamin E, and essential fatty acids. Manuka honey seals in moisture and enhances barrier recovery while moringa butter softens and conditions. Konjac root and Volulip™, a natural peptide and plant extract blend, work together to smooth and fill fine lines, and visibly plump lips through hyaluronic acid synthesis while the subtle sting of the lip butter increases circulation for naturally fuller-looking lips.

First Impression

The color is beautiful, and the formula is so smooth and creamy, aaaannndd it smells like honey. I absolutely LOVE the packaging, its a beautiful rose gold with a unique packaging twist, rocking a hexagon shape. It's the perfect finishing touch to your bronze summer glow. It's not sticky, and feels more like a lip balm than a lip stick. I don't think it's intended to be transfer proof, but it doesn't appear to be coming off very easily.

All Day Wear

Throughout the day, the lipstick dried down into almost a waxy finish. It was still felt light and didn't feel restrictive on my lips. I stand by my lip balm comment from my first impression. The color lasted for a few hours and didn't smear all over my face. This has definite potential to be my go to lipstick this summer.

The Short version

Not suitable for ultra-sensitive skin. This is a luxury, if you don't need it, don't buy it. But it is nice to have.

Claimed benefits

First Impression

After you use the Foreo Mini for the first time, your face feels extra clean and tingly. I would recommend using this on the lowest setting (by pushing that center button twice) the first time you use it, because the vibration can be really intense if you have sensitive skin. It comes in 6 different colors, so you really have a variety to pick from. It also comes with a USB charger to charge your device, and the battery lasts 5 months if you use the device daily; probably longer if you only use it a few times a week. You can use it with any cleanser and is gentle enough to be a great daily exfoliator.

**Note: Because this product gives you such a deep clean, you may breakout a bit when you first start using it. But it gets better as you continue to use it.

All Day Wear

It makes my face feel so clean! It's water proof so I just use it in the shower, and it has a timer built in that vibrates 3 times when you're done cleaning your face. I did start to break out a little bit, but that could be from anything. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with ultra sensitive skin as it might over work your skin and to spend $100 on something you would only use once or twice a week may not be worth it.

The Short version

Pretty, vibrant colors, get's glittery everywhere when you try to take it off, super glam. Buy it, or don't.

Claimed benefits

Glitter & Glow Liquid eyeshadow is a long-wearing, sparkle eyeshadow with the perfect blend of pearl and glitter to leave your eyes with incredible luster and shimmer. With its uniquely lightweight, water-infused texture, it glides on effortlessly, then dries down smoothly, locking in maximum sparkle with minimal fallout for elevated eye looks.

First Impression

These eye shadows are very beautiful and VERY pigmented. They can make any look go from natural to glam by layering it over your favorite eye shadows. They also make for an easy cut-crease look. The only down side I'm seeing is when you try to remove it, it's difficult to remove and glitter goes EVERYWHERE.

All Day Wear

It doesn't smear, it doesn't budge, this eye shadow lasts all day.  It's build-able and is perfect for every skin tone. My every day eye shadow palette is the Natural Eyes by Too Faced and I just layered Kitten Karma all over the lid and it didn't mess with my already blended shadow and really made my eyes pop. It was the perfect way to go from a day to night look and lasted through a whole sweaty night of dancing. But like I said in my first impression, when I tried to take it off, glitter went all over my face and stayed there for 2 days. So, I would really only use this for special occasions because as pretty as it is, it's also quite the hassle.

The Short version

I love it so far, great for oily skin, full price bottles run steep ($68 for the water cream; $38 for the deep cleanse). Depending on how long they last; I'd buy it. But if you already have skin care products you LOVE, this would be a pass.

Claimed benefits

The Deep Cleanse gel lathers into a creamy foam to lift away dirt, oil, and impurities without over-drying. It cleanses with amino acids derived from silk gentle enough for even the most delicate skin, leaving skin soft, refreshed, and comfortably hydrated. The formula harnesses the power of the Japanese luffa fruit, a natural beauty multi-tasker beloved by Japanese women for centuries. Ground fibers from the fruit exfoliate, helping to turn over dead skin cells, deeply purifying and decongesting pores, while the fruit extract beautifies and conditions skin. Use this deep but gentle cleanser in the morning to wake up skin for a fresh start.

The Water Cream is a unique anti-aging moisturizer that transforms to release a burst of skin-improving nutrients and refreshing hydration for pore-less looking skin that is perfectly prepped for makeup. Japanese wild rose visibly tightens pores and smooths skin texture, while Japanese leopard lily helps control excess oil and clarify skin by encouraging natural skin turnover. Use daily, morning and night for a shine-free, healthy glow.

First Impression

The packaging is really elegant and spa like. I feel fancy just having this in my bathroom. It smells like a spa too, so I guess they're really shooting for that spa and relaxation theme. The Deep Cleanse is a thin, gel like cleanser with some sort of exfoliating micro-beads. It was intended for normal to oily skin, which I tend toward.

All Day Wear

I have a hard time finding a cleanser that can minimize my natural oils throughout the day. Once I rinsed the cleanser off my face, my skin felt dry, but not tight. I immediately put the Water Cream on, which almost feels like a lube. It's very light gel like consistency as well. Like the cleanser, a little bit goes a long way. I love how light weight both the cleanser and the water cream are, especially this time of year with Florida's humidity. I woke up the morning after using this product and my face looked a little oily but it didn't feel as oily as it normally does. Given that this is a skin care product, I would have to finish the product to give my best recommendation. But so far, I'm pleased.

The Short version

I won't die without it, but I probably won't wear makeup without it either. A little bit goes a long way so this product will last a good long while. Buy it.

Claimed benefits

Touche Elcat Blur Primer preps skin for foundation application, creating an improved, refined appearance: pores seem to be minimized, skin texture feels smoother, and skin tone is more even. It’s enriched with four nourishing oils—corn oil, apricot kernel oil, passiflora oil, and rice bran oil—to leave skin feeling incredibly soft without a greasy residue. Packed with blur technology, this universal primer provides a subtle, golden shimmer for ultimate luminosity.

First Impression

This feel like one of those silicone-based primers that just glide on your skin. It smelle like chemicals masked with perfume, but it's not a strong scent, so it falls within my absolute threshold. My blemishes and redness appear to have evened out and my pores look blurred. So far, so good.

All Day Wear

After a full day of wearing the YSL Touche Eclat Blur, I'm pretty pleased; I really enjoyed this primer. Two pumps covered my whole face and it glided on like a dream. I used clean fingertips to apply my primer and it felt like it was really soaking into my skin instead of just sitting on top of it waiting to get smeared around when I applied foundation. The only minor downside (if you can even call it that) is that my boyfriend said he could see the glitter through my foundation 🧐. I didn't see it though, so maybe he just had a long day at the office 🤷‍♀️. The primer paired nicely with the Dior Skin Nude Air Serum foundation and kept it in place and prevented it from separating on my face or exaggerating texture.
